When a Chicago judge dies of flu-like symptoms, private detective Deuce Ryker, a former Chicago police detective, is called in by the judge's widow to investigate his death. Ryker soon learns that within a three-week period three Chicago judges have died in the same manner. His investigation into the deaths plunges him headlong into the middle of organized crime figures and crooked law enforcement officials that nearly costs him his life.
